MIZORAM COLLEGE OF NURSING, FALKAWN

MIZORAM COLLEGE OF NURSING is a Nursing college run by the Health & Family Welfare Department, Mizoram, India.

The institution was established in 1980 with a capacity of 20 intake students for General Nursing & Midwifery course under Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Mizoram and pioneer in its own unique way. About 500 student have passed out from this institution. During 25 this institution has served the people and the Gov. by producing excellent and dedicated Nurses. The Nurses trained from this institute are also working well equipped moderns hospitals in different states of the country and even in foreign countries such as UK, USA and Singapore hospitals. This institution was upgraded to College of Nursing on 11th Oct.2005 to conduct Bachelor of Science in Nursing which is 4th Years course. 

 

The institution is recognised by Indian Nursing Council, Mizoram Nursing Council and has permanent affiliation under Mizoram University (MZU).

Currently, the MCON has 16 teaching staffs and 31 non-teaching staffs and is headed by the acting principal Lalchhanhimi, as the college does not have permanent principal.

 

Thirty two students graduated this year, out of them nine students were placed in MZU B.Sc Top 10. Two students secured distinction and 30 students secured first division. MCON’s student Vanlalnunziri daughter of Biakchungnunga is a gold medalist in B Sc result 2018 declared by MZU.

OBJECTIVES :

To prepare Nurses with efficiency and effectiveness at the basic level who can function in a variety of settings with excellence.

To inculcate a deep sense of responsibility toward their own employment, professional growth and towards professional organization.

To promote a deeper understanding of nursing and the need to keep pace with the changing concxept and technology.

PHILOSOPHY :

This institution is of the opinion that quality Nursing education contributes to the quality nursing care, thus expecting the faculty in giving their best ability in guiding the students in every way.

The institution believes that there is a need to stress the primary focus of nursing I.e., the patients and their families; therefore, the institution tries to expose the students in the clinical field as much as possible with maximum supervision and observation.

The faculty also believes in preparing the students to acquire critical thinking and analyze situation and take self responsibility for their continuing education.

Campus

The campus is located in Falkawn. The foundation stone was laid on 24 January 2011. It features a library, computer lab, nursing lab, classrooms, and a hostel.
