MIZORAM TOUR GUIDE ASSOCIATION
Aizawl, Mizoram
Dated: Aizawl, the 31st Oct, 2026
NOTICE
We, the member's of the Mizoram Tour Guide Association (MTGA), express our deepest anguish, pain and strong condemnation.
It has come to our attention that Surita Chakma, owner of Muromuri Tour Company, a Person who has been living and earning her entire livelihood inside Mizoram, has shamelessly used Social Media to defame, insult, and present the Mizo community in a completely false, fabricated and highly disgraceful manner before the entire world.
This is an act of extreme betrayal.
We, the Mao people, are a people who live by 'Tlawmngaihna' (selfless service) and 'Zahngaihna' (compassion). We open our homes, and our hearts to every guest who enters our land. We treat every tourist as our own brother's and sister's. To be stabbed in the back by the same person who eats from this very soil is not just an insult — it is a wound to the heart of every Mizo.
An attack on the dignity of the Mizo community is an attack on all of us.
We will not tolerate it. We will not remain silent spectators while our identity is distorted and our hospitality is mocked.
Therefore, the MTGA unanimously and with immediate effect resolves that:
1. We will have ZERO COLLABORATION, ZERO PARTNERSHIP with Surita Chakma and Muromuri Tour Company from this day forward.
2. No licensed guide under MTGA will guide, assist, or associate with any tour conducted by them.
3. We completely distance ourselves from all their activities, statements and businesses.
"Mizoram is our land. Our honour. Our life"
Yours faithfully,
LALHRUAITLUANGI)
President,
Mizoram Tour Guide Association (MTGA)
For the past two days, I have watched with a heavy heart as short clips from a recent interview of mine have spread across social media, causing outrage and deep hurt. I am writing today not to shy away from responsibility, but to offer my sincerest apology.
During that interview, I made remarks about the men and women of the Mizo community, about marriage, occupation and their roles in society. These were ill-informed generalisations on my part and on this I needed not just to be educated, but to be corrected. I also spoke about discrimination against the Chakma community, which I have never personally experienced or witnessed. I was repeating unverified things I had only heard in passing.
I was pressured on and off camera to speak on sensitive topics I did not want to engage with. I told the creator these words did not represent my views and asked for those segments to be taken down. Still, the words came from my mouth and I take full responsibility for them.
To the men and women of Mizoram and to everyone who has been hurt, I offer my deepest, unconditional apology.
Many of my Mizo brothers and sisters have patiently stood by me through this, even in an era of clickbait. Your grace means more than I can say. I hold immense respect for the people of Mizoram and every community that calls it home.
— Surita
