PMGKY provides big relief to poor during lockdown in Aizawl

Aizawl | April 2020, 20:  Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan  Ann Yojana has come as a big relief to needy families across Mizoram. A large number of people have availed free ration under the scheme here amid lockdown.

About 80 crore poor people are getting 5 kg wheat or rice and 1 kg of preferred pulses for free every month for three months (April, May and June). 

Lalremruata a resident of Aizawl got free ration of 40 Kg rice for his family this month. He gives thanks to the government for helping poor people during the pandemic. 

Ms. Lalhiatpuii a resident of  Zonuam, Aizawl also appreciates the Government of India and the Local Task Force of her area for distributing ration under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana during the lockdown period. She got 48kg of rice at free of cost under the scheme. 

Mrs. Lalruatzeli a resident of Chawlhhmun, Aizawl appreciates the Government of India for providing her family 35 Kg of rice under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana free of cost at this difficult time due to COVID 19. Mr. Rochungnunga of Chawnpui, Aizawl also received free ration during the Lockdown. He gives thanks to the centre for assistance during this time of distress. Scores of migrant workers have also benefitted from the scheme. They say scheme has come as a great help to them. The Government of India has said that it would not allow anybody, especially any poor family, to suffer on account of non-availability of food grains due to disruption in the next three months.
