2 Mizo Battalion NCC to be raised in Lunglei on 14 September, To cover entire South Mizoram

The 2nd Mizoram Battalion NCC, Lunglei will be inaugurated on 14 September 2018 at Lunglei.
 The Battalion will function under NCC Directorate North Eastern Region, Shillong. NCC is a uniformed youth organization and has enormous potential for national building. The NCC provides exposure to the cadets in wide range of activities with distinct emphasis on social services, discipline and adventure training. There was a limited NCC coverage in South Mizoram and Mizoram chief minister Shri Lal Thanhawla took up a case with government of India to raise a NCC Battalion to cover South Mizoram. Accordingly, government of India issued orders for raising of 2 Mizoram Battalion NCC at Lunglei.  This Battalion will have strength of 1,120 Senior NCC Cadets and 2,400 Junior NCC Cadets, a total strength of 3,520 NCC Cadets. The Battalion will cover not only Lunglei district but the entire South Mizoram.  In a message, Major General Raju Chouhan, Additional Director General, NCC Directorate North Eastern Region, Shillong said that the raising will enable better inclusion and representation of South Mizoram districts in Local, National and International level NCC events and activities. He said that the Battalion will also provide an ideal launching pad to the youth in South Mizoram to ultimately join the Indian Armed Forces.
