Mizoram ban on import of pigs, pork and pork products

Aizawl | August 20, 2020: Mizoram government issued an order for complete ban of import of pigs, pork and other pork products from Myanmar, other foreign countries and other states of India with immediate effect until further orders to prevent the entry and spread of African Swine Fever in the state.

Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department have been instructed to ensure mandatory disinfection of pig-rearing premises, enforce strict hygiene measures and isolation of suspected pigs as well as endure safe disposal of pig carcass. 

Intensive physical surveillance and immediate reporting of any unusual mortality of pigs or wild pigs to the Department Helpline No. 03892336441, 9436142908, 9436151203 and 8794206212 should be effected.
