Aizawl | September 26, 2018: A high level team from
Defense Research Development Organization (DRDO) lead by Sudhir Gupta, Director
General, DRDO, Sh. Hemant Gupta, Scientist 'F', Dr. Pawn Kumar, Scientist, DRDO
visited Mizoram University on 25th & 26th
Sept, 2018, to inspect the feasibility for setting up of defense
incubator in the School of Engineering and Technology.
The team Interacted with Vice-Chancellor, Pro Vice
Chancellor, Dean, SET of Mizoram University and faculty member of School of
Engineering and Technology and faculties
of the Schools of Engineering and Technology, Physical Sciences and Life
Sciences. They are impressed with the facilities and potential of the faculties
in various academic departments of these Schools.
The
team further explored the possibility of opening the Centre in Mizoram
University on the thrust areas of DRDO or societal interest. The Objectives of
the NESTC is to undertake and facilitate multidisciplinary directed basic and
applied research in the identified research verticals viz.,Water Poison
Detection and Detoxification; Natural Plant Materials and NPS congeners in the
Prevention and Treatment of Cold injuries; Vector control, Life Style Diseases,
Neurodegenerative diseases and Cancer; Advanced Electromagnetics and high
frequency electronics design system; SoC Design of Reversible Watermarking for
secure data; MEMS based sensor design for specific application and mobile P2P
networks for defense applications etc. NESTC will collaborate with the academic
researchers & faculties at Mizoram University and other Institutions in the
country, industries and DRDO laboratories for creating new knowledge and
translating them into cutting edge technologies for defence and society. This
is one of the first centers to be incubated in North East.
